Bologna......late Thursday and Friday 13 th.....

Bit of a sleep in! Hotel breakfast included in tariff, beautiful Hotel Roma, good find on wotif.com !The parents and babies took off to do their thing,Buck and I walked around, past the opera house thinking we could enter but opens at 8 pm for a show !

Opera house, originally a wooden building but burnt down, this one was built in the early 18 th century and presents 8 operas in a season ,one of the most important opera venues in Italy!

Piazza Maggiore, night view,a beautiful church exists in the square ,going under renovation at the moment! The pope originally lived in Bologna!

Our intrepid leader found a great home made pasta restaurant for a late dinner last night! Bravo!

Streets of Bologna

Covered archway footpaths everywhere,no need for an umbrella if it should rain! 25 degrees here ,not as humid!

A view through a hallway entrance of a building!

Another!

Found the university Botanical garden which were founded in 1522-1605 ,after being transferred many times, found their home in Via Irnerio, overall surface covers 2 hectares with over 5 thousand local and exotic plants cultivated! 3 greenhouses, tropical and succulent.

I was disappointed as they are in dire need of TLC!!!! Where are my tools and gardening gloves when I need them?!

Succulent enclosure in a poor state!

Herb garden a little bit better!

Bologna was occupied by Germans from September 1943 till April45 , a huge resistance movement was located here as this building has a lot of photo memories of them!

Liberation!

Found this, great looking isn't it,maybe I will get one for Murphy, bugger the grand kids!

Eddison fell in love with the bubble blower, hard to move him on!

Grammy is back at the hotel having a rest!!!!
